With 0.85 hectares, Reichsrat von Buhl owns the largest area in the highest rated location in the Palatinate – the Kirchenstück in Forst. 65 of 65 points in the site classification for this unique site! Only the in 1985 planted plot of the two von Buhl areas is with 0.4 hectares in yield, in 2015 we cleared just over a quarter of the area and will now give the soil two years before replanting it. The always rare and extremely low-yielding von Buhl‘sche Kirchenstück – we are talking about a yield of less than 20hl per hectare – is thus becoming even rarer. Especially the always powerful Kirchenstück with it‘s exotic fruit aroma has a very good crystal-clear acid structure.
SOIL
The 6-foot sandstone wall surrounding and protecting the site, transfers the heat that is stored during the day, back into the vines during the night. This, along with the rich soils of sandstone, limestone scree, basalt and loess, is what is behind the ripeness of this sensual wine.
