With 0.85 hectares, Reichsrat von Buhl owns the largest area in the highest rated location in the Palatinate – the Kirchenstück in Forst. 65 of 65 points in the site classification for this unique site! Only the in 1985 planted plot of the two von Buhl areas is with 0.4 hectares in yield. The other plot was newly planted in 2018 after a two year fallow. For David Schildknecht (American magazine „Vinous“) our 2017 Kirchenstück is the best wine of the Palatine of the vintage 2017. The total production in the vintage 2017 is only 2.000 bottles. Especially the always powerful Kirchenstück with it‘s exotic fruit aroma has a very good crystal-clear acid structure.
SOIL
The 6-foot sandstone wall surrounding and protecting the site, transfers the heat that is stored during the day, back into the vines during the night. This, along with the rich soils of sandstone, limestone scree, basalt and loess, is what is behind the ripeness of this sensual wine.
