Suez is our tribute to the opening of the Suez Canal in 1869, to the opening ceremony a Riesling of Reichsrat von Buhl has been served. It was clear from the beginning that we will have a Riesling Suez. However, we wanted to create a whole series of top wines under the Suez – Label. Now the Edition also includes a Pinot Noir Rosé and a classic red Pinot Noir. Winemaker Mathieu Kauffmann has used some of our best Pinot Noir grapes from a 15 year old vineyard for this Rosé. The grapes were harvested by hand and had a maceration period of 8 hours in the press. After a gentle direct pressing with only 50% juice extraction, a third of the juice is fermented in a double piece barrel (2400l), the rest in 500l french oak tonneaux. The wine aged on the fermentation yeast up to its bottling in July.
WINE
This is our way to show what a great potential handmade Rosé may have. The SUEZ Rosé shows a very seductive, subtle fruitiness, a little spice and dried herbs. Fresh and clean on the palate with a huge potential for further development after bottling. And of course it‘s as dry as you can get it.
